About us

Built in Jet Park for South African production floors

UV Laser was founded in 2009 and is based in Jet Park, Boksburg, right in the industrial heart of Ekurhuleni. That matters because we work in the same conditions our clients work in: busy factory floors, tight delivery windows, shift work, municipal compliance and the constant pressure to keep production moving. From Jet Park to Germiston, Kempton Park, Benoni, Alberton, Midrand and Pretoria, we support operations that need reliable marking on glass and plastics without fuss.

Our focus has stayed narrow by design. We specialise in UV laser marking for businesses that need permanent, legible results on delicate or high-value items. That includes branding, product identification, traceability codes, decorative work and fine detail on materials where ink, labels or manual methods may not hold up. The aim is not just to mark a part, but to help a client run a cleaner process with less rework and fewer handling issues.

We are led by Riaan Pretorius, with a team that handles operations, applications, training, service and field installation. Each project is handled by people who know the practical side of production. When a client asks for a demo, sample test or machine integration, we look at the full job: material type, marking depth, line speed, operator flow, floor space, power supply and maintenance access. That is the difference between a machine that simply sits on site and one that is used properly every day.

What we value when a marking job has to work first time

Our work is shaped by a simple idea: the marking process must suit the product, the pace of the line and the people running it. We do not push one-size-fits-all answers. A glass item for branding in a retail supply chain needs a different setup from a plastic component used in manufacturing, and both need proper testing before the final machine choice is made. We prefer careful assessment up front, because that is where the long-term savings are found.

Precision is important, but so is consistency. A mark that looks good on one sample is not enough if it fails after handling, cleaning or storage. We test for clarity, repeatability and durability, then adjust the process where needed. If a client needs fixture design, software setup or line integration, we work through the practical steps in order, not as a rushed afterthought. That includes operator training, because even a good system can be undermined by poor setup or skipped checks.

We also place value on direct communication. Clients do not need big promises, they need straight answers about lead times, site readiness, spares and support. That approach has helped us build long term relationships across industries where downtime is expensive and mistakes are visible. In a market where many suppliers overstate what a machine can do, we keep the focus on what can be proven on sample material and then repeated on site.

  • Practical advice based on your material and production flow
  • Testing before installation so there are fewer surprises
  • Support that considers dust, heat, humidity and load-shedding conditions
  • Training that helps operators use the equipment properly from day one

How we handle demos, sample testing and project planning

Most projects begin with a conversation through the enquiry form on our contact page, followed by sample testing or a site demo where appropriate. We ask for the material details, the finish required, the marking area and any special production constraints. If a client is dealing with curved glass, thin plastics, variable batches or a need for fine logos and codes, we study the sample before recommending a setup. This prevents guesswork and helps keep the end result consistent.

For many clients, a live demo is the best way to judge whether the mark quality matches the application. We can work from Jet Park, Boksburg and also travel for demonstrations, which is useful for facilities in Gauteng and beyond. A demo shows more than appearance. It shows how the machine fits into the workflow, how quickly a job can be set up, and what sort of repeatability the operator can expect on a normal shift. That is especially important where production teams need to balance output with traceability and product appearance.

Once a project is approved, we plan the installation around the site conditions. That may involve access routes, machine positioning, operator safety, ventilation, fixture layout and software setup. In some factories, power interruptions are part of the daily reality, so we also consider how the equipment will be managed during load-shedding or voltage issues. It is better to plan for that from the start than to deal with avoidable stoppages later on.

Installation, training and support that fit the way your plant works

Our installation work is carried out with the same practical mindset. We do not arrive, drop off equipment and leave the rest to the client. We make sure the machine is placed correctly, the setup suits the product and the people on site know how to use it. Where line integration is needed, we work through the sequence carefully so that marking does not slow down the rest of the process.

Training is a key part of the service because many issues start with operator uncertainty rather than equipment failure. Anele Dlamini coordinates training so that teams get clear instruction on setup, job changes, basic troubleshooting and safe handling. We keep the training focused on the real tasks the operator will face, not a long theory session that is forgotten by the next shift. When needed, we can also train multiple staff members so a plant is not left vulnerable if one person is off site.

Support does not stop after the first handover. Naledi Mokoena, Priya Naidoo and the service team keep track of schedules, spares and breakdown requests, while Refilwe Mahlangu handles applications and technical follow up when a process needs adjustment. If a customer needs preventive maintenance, software setup, fixture changes or breakdown repairs, we respond with the same aim every time: restore normal production and reduce repeat issues. That practical support matters in factories where overtime is costly and even a small fault can disrupt an entire run.

Who we work with and where we operate

UV Laser serves a wide spread of industries in South Africa, from manufacturers and packers to businesses that need detailed marking on glass and plastic products. Some clients need branding that looks clean on shelf-ready goods. Others need codes, batch details or product information that stays readable after handling and cleaning. In every case, the marking has to suit the material and the production rhythm, whether the order is small or ongoing.

We work from our base in Jet Park, Boksburg and support clients in surrounding industrial areas as well as further afield. Our footprint includes Germiston, Kempton Park, Benoni, Alberton, Midrand and Pretoria, with demos, installs and training available nationwide. For many businesses, having a supplier that can come on site, test samples and then support the machine later is a major advantage. It saves time and avoids the delays that come from dealing with a provider who does not understand local conditions or the realities of a South African production floor.

  • Glass marking for branding, identification and fine detail
  • Plastic marking for durable product information and traceability
  • Nationwide support for sites that need installation and training
  • Ongoing spares supply and maintenance for long-term use

Why clients keep coming back to UV Laser

Clients return to us because they want a supplier who stays involved after the sale. A machine is only useful if it keeps producing the same result week after week, and that takes proper setup, maintenance and a team that understands the application. We aim to be that partner. From the first sample to the final handover, our work is measured by whether the marking holds up, the operators are comfortable and the line keeps running.

We also understand that South African businesses need value that lasts. Equipment decisions are rarely made for show. They are made because a plant needs a better process, a cleaner result or a more dependable way to meet customer requirements. That is why we take the time to match the right solution to the job rather than forcing a quick sale. A clear, permanent mark on glass or plastics is only useful if it can be repeated under real factory conditions, not just in a test room.

At UV Laser, innovation is useful only when it solves a real problem. That may mean improving clarity on a small component, reducing manual handling, or helping a team work through humidity, dust or power interruptions with fewer interruptions. We keep the focus on practical results, steady support and honest communication. That is how we work, and it is why many clients choose to stay with us year after year.
